Sania Mirza became the latest victim of a rampaging Heidi El Tabakh as the unheralded local wild card shut the door on the Indian in Rogers Cup main draw by defeating her in a three-set contest.

Fresh from her doubles triumph in a Florida WTA event last week, Sania Mirza will take on Kazakh Sesil Karatantcheva in the opening round of the USD one million Family Circle Cup clay-court tennis tournament here.

According to the latest updation made to WTA charts on Monday, Sania slips down to 32nd spot in singles. However, she maintained her doubles ranking to 23rd position.

Followed by Sania, the second best Indian tennis player, US-based Sunitha Rao maintained her ranking as 182 in singles and 126th in doubles. In men’s doubles, Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes are ranked 19th and 15th respectively.

According to the latest WTA rankings released on Monday, Sania climbed the doubles ranking to 18th position. Also Sania holding her singles ranking to 32nd position. Despite being out of action for last four weeks due to a stomach injury, Sania managed to hold on 32nd position.
