Somdev defeated World No. 47 Potito Starace in straight sets to continue his good run of form.

India’s Sania Mirza defeated Renata Voracova of the Czech Republic in straight sets to enter the main draw of the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami. The 24-year-old beat Renata Voracova 6-4, 6-2 in an hour and 22 minutes in the final qualifying round on Tuesday. Mirza will face Spain’s Arantxa Parra Santonja in the first round.
In the men’s singles, Somdev Devvarman opens his campaign against Italy’s Potito Starace.

Sania Mirza was at her aggressive best as she crushed Tamarine Tanasugarn of Thailand 6-2, 6-3 to make the women’s singles semifinals at the Asian Games on Saturday. A bronze is assured but going by the way Sania took out the Thai veteran, a gold or a silver seems likely.
