When talk of sports in India how can we not mention Sania Mirza, the girl who touched great heights in 2007 but hit new lows in 2008. Its just been that sort of a year for the promising young tennis star, who was surrounded by controversies and injuries more than anything else. But this new year could be so different. Starting with the Australian Open, she might become the first Indian to win a slam, then the French, followed by the Wimbledon and the US, she could go on to end a perfect year with all the grand slams.

Sania Mirza’s sensational form continued unabated as she upset seventh seed Martina Hingis to storm into the third round of the $600,000 East West Bank Classic tournament.
Sania beat the world number 12 Swiss 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 to enter next round of the tournament. Sania will play the winner of the clash between French Virginie Razzano and her good friend Shahar Peer of Israel in the next round.

Here are few things worth noting. “Orkut” - A social networking site of Google toppped the most popular searches while Bollwood sensational actress “Katrina Kaif” made it to 10 in the desktop searches list. In mobile searches Katrina is #6 most searched.

Sania Mirza admits that it has been quite a low for her since the Olympics.
You would remember this image β an overwrought Sania Mirza wincing in pain as she retired hurt from the first round of the Beijing Olympics in August, the wrist injury thereafter keeping her out of action. This was followed by a fall to world No.101 from the exhilaration of top-30 (world No.27). Depression was inevitable. βItβs definitely been a low for me, especially after the Olympics. I had got into a depression,β a refreshingly cheerful Sania told DNA on Monday.
