Stoic Russian Nadia Petrova remains the top seed, but The MPS Group Championships WTA Tour event in Ponte Vedra Beach may have hooked its two most exciting players this week with the addition of Australian comeback queen Jelena Dokic, and Indian pin-up girl Sania Mirza.

MIAMI, where the stars dazzle under a moonlit sky and the sea waves whip up a fantasy. An urgent nudge from a fellow journalist from Panama woke me from my reverie. Not that I could complain. There was in the flesh, Anna Kournikova, the perennial glamour girl of tennis in a little black dress, flushed with dancing, blond hair flying in the cool breeze as she gasped for “my Bombay Sapphire”! The drama had just about begun to unfold at the hip nightclub, Opium, the venue of glitz, glamour and sexy backs.

Top seed Maria Sharapova ended Indian hope at Acura Classic. Sharapova defeated Indian tennis sensation Sania Mirza in two straight sets 6-2, 6-1 in their quarter final match. But the last two weeks was successful for Sania Mirza. Sania had defeated five Top 25 players in last two weeks.
