Elena Vesnina did not win the Family Circle Cup singles title Sunday, but she did not leave Daniel Island empty-handed. Vesnina, who lost Sunday to world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki in the singles final, teamed with Sania Mirza to win the Family Circle Cup doubles title.

Somdev Dev Varman moved up one spot, to rank 98, in the Association of Tennis Professionals ranking chart, released on Monday.
Sania Mirza has also gone up one position in the Women’s Tennis Association rankings.
She stands at No. 159 in the ranking list.

Number two seed Venus Williams needed three sets to beat Indian Sania Mirza 6-1 3-6 6-2 in the second round of the Family Circle Cup in Charleston.
After powering through the opening set, Williams was pegged back in the second by a spirited Mirza, who came back from 3-1 down to win five games on the spin.

Top-seeded Nadia Petrova beat 14-year-old American Madison Keys 6-3, 6-2 in the second round of The MPS Group Championships on Wednesday night.
Petrova, ranked No. 10 in the world, won nine of the last 11 games to beat Keys, who was playing in her first WTA Tour event in the season-opening clay-court tournament.
