India’s Sania Mirza and American Bethanie Mattek cruised to the third round of the women’s doubles at Wimbledon with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Maria Kirilenko of Russia and Flavia Pennetta of Italy here Saturday.

Rohan Bopanna, though. lost his mixed doubles second round match as he and Tatiana Poutchek of Belarus went down to Simon Aspelin of Sweden and Lisa Raymond of the US 3-6, 6-7 (7-1).

London, June 27 (IANS) It might be the end of the road for Sania Mirza in the singles, but the Indian, along with her American partner Bethanie Mattek, made an impressive start to theír doubles campaign routing English duo of Elena Baltacha and Naomi Cavady 6-4, 6-2, at the Wimbledon tennis Championships here at the All England Club. NAnother Indian Leander Paes and Czech Lukas Dlouhy have entered the third round of the men’s doubles, the ninth-seeded pair beating American-Australian combine of Eric Butorac and Ashley Fisher 6-3 7-6 (3) Thursday.
