Sania Mirza breezed into the second round of the Australian Open tournament by getting the better of Marta Domachowhska. The Indian dominated throughout and an improved serve saw her easily overcome the challenge put forth by Marta.

The Hyderabadi girl served with consistency and hit attacking groundstrokes to outplay her opponent, ranked 61 in the world, 6-1, 6-4.

Sania Mirza successively entered third round of year’s first grand slam- Australian Open after beating a Swiss player Timea Bacsinszky. To beat her, Sania had to struggle for three sets. The match lasted for hour and 44 minutes.

New Delhi, Jan 19 : Eighth seed Venus Williams survived her toughest test at the Australian Open to beat Sania Mirza 7-6 6-4 and reach the fourth round today.

Sania put up a brave fight in the first set, making Williams sweat for every point.

Year’s first tennis grand slam- Australian Open 2008 is starting from Monday, 14th Jan. For the very first round of it, Sania will take on to a wild card Uzbek player Iroda Tulyaganova.

Sania Mirza crashes out from Moorilla Hobart International tournament by losing to Italian player Flavia Pennetta. Pennetta defeated Sania in three sets 7-5, 1-6, 6-3. Sania had many chances to broke the Italian, but due to error prone play she couldn’t make it. Mirza had 12 break points through out the match, but she wasted seven out of it.
