Somdev Devvarman moved up seven places in the latest ATP rankings to attain a career high ranking of no.124 in the world. This is Somdev’s third tryst with the 120s, having started the year just outside the top 200s, the Indian ace climbed up to 129 in June and then 127 in July before sliding down to the 160s in August.
His latest movement is courtesy of a round of 16 appearance at the Tashkent Challenger last week where he was beaten by Alexandre Kudryavtsev of Russia in straight sets.
Rohan Bopanna and Prakash Amritraj both slid down the rankings this week. Bopanna lost 58 places to return to 400s, while Amriraj lost 26 and is ranked 249th in the world.
In the WTA Tour rankings Sania Mirza moved up three spots to no.58 in the world courtesy of her semi-final run at the HP Japan Women’s Open in Osaka last week. Sania also moved up a few spots to no. 36 in the doubles ranking.
