Sania, Somdev advance to second round

Seventh seeded Indian Somdev Devvarman demolished 281st ranked Spanish player Gillermo Olaso 6-3, 6-2 in 1 hr 7 minutes to enter the second round of the $1,25,000 Tashkent Challenger, an ATP Challenger series event being played at the Olympic tennis Stadium on Monday. However, India’s wildcard entrant Rohan Bopanna crashed out in the opening round itself.
Top seeded Hsun Yen Lu of Taipei outplayed wild card entrant Rohan Bopanna of India 6-4, 6-2.
In the first set Somdev broke Olaso in the 6th game. In the second set he broke the Spaniard in the 3rd and 7th games to wrap the match.
In the second round, Somdev will take on the winner of the match between Latvian Deniss Pavlovs and Russian Alexandre Kudryavtsev.
