Sania reaches quarter finals of singles and doubles at Japan OpenCurrently, Sania Mirza is ranked 29th in the world, while seeded second at the ongoing Japan Open WTA event. Mirza reached the quarter finals of Japan Open by beating the Australian Casey Dellacqua in the second round. Dellacqua stretched Mirza up to three sets 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 to reach the quarters.

In the quarters, Mirza will take onto the winner between Flavia Penetta and Abigail Spears.

Sania Mirza also entered the doubles quarter-final of Japan Open along with American partner Christina Fusano. To enter the quarters Mirza-Fusano beat the Polish-Romanian duo Urszula Radwanska and Agnes Szatmari in straight sets 6-3, 6-2. For quarters, they will meet to the winner of Chinese pair of Tiantian Sun and Zi Yan and local duo of Rika Fujiwara and Junri Namigata.

On the other hand, the top seed American Venus Williams also entered the quarter finals of Japan Open.

    I ve been a big fan of Sania Mirza for the last couple of years
    The reason why she has not been able to show big success in big final is because she doesnt have that killer instinct and that so called seriouness is also not there whenever she plays big points
