India’s tennis player Sania Mirza was once again out of the first round of the Wimbledon championship held yesterday on 22nd June 2010. She was beaten in the straight sets in the women’s singles first round. Sania is currently ranked as world number 111. She lost the game at a score of 4-6 and 1-6 to the German Angelique Kerber who is ranked at number 54 currently. Sania Mirza returned to the game after suffering from a serious wrist injury from about the past three months and it could be clearly seen that she had prepared not much for the Grand slam event due to her injury.
The Indian player who got recently married to Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malick also got out of the game of the championship tournament at the Birmingham. The game was in favour of Sania as it was seen from the first set as she had started breaking the opponents serve but this advantage could not last long and was nullified soon as the opponent started to win over her. This is not the first time that Sania is out of the Wimbledon, she has till now never made up to more than round two at the Wimbledon.
