The Indian combo of Mahesh Bhupathi & Sania Mirza withdrew from mixed doubles event at Australian Open 2010.The pair had to take the decision as Bhupati has sustained a calf injury.

Bhupathi encountered the injury during his practice session on Monday and aggravated it at men’s doubles first round match on Thursday. He lost the match along with his doubles partner Max Mirnyi of Belarus.

Bhupathi said that being advised by doctor for at least 10 days rest; the pair had to pull out of the first Grand Slam of the season.

Bhupathi’s campaign at the year opening tournament comes to an end with the pull out. Sania Mirza has already lost in women’s singles but she is still in fray at the women’s doubles event.
