I’ll cheer Sania on, says fiance

intend to be one,” Mohammed Sohrab Mirza Shakeebai said.

“I’m perfectly content with where I’m and who I’m.” The 24-year-old is a Hyderabadi businessman and MBA aspirant with the newly acquired title of fiance of Sania Mirza.

“I hit with her recently,” Mohammed said in even tone. “Let’s just say I didn’t stand a chance. The forehand almost drilled a hole through my racquet!” 1-0 to Sania then.

News of Sania’s engagement broke like a raging bushfire last week. Subsequently, Sania’s parents announced the date for the engagement ceremony. The Mirzas added that the wedding wouldn’t take place for some time, and that their daughter’s commitment to her tennis was total. Sania Mirza also has the full backing of Mohammed.

“I’ve always supported her in whatever she wanted to do,” said Mohammed, who’ll pursue his MBA at the University of Warwick in England. “She’s an incredibly talented player and she has handled her life with amazing grace. I’ll cheer her on for as long as she wants to play.”
