Meet Sania Mirza’s infinitely more mysterious doubles partner. After it wasreported that Sania was engaged to fellow Hyderabadi Mohammad Sohrab Mirza Shakeebai (Sohrab Mirza, for short, and ‘Mo’ for shorter), the imposing Mirza Mansion at Khairatabad (his home) has been witnessing a flurry of media activity. But, the man in question has been maintaining a low profile.

Says Sohrab’s teacher, “He studied mass communication and graduated in 2007. He hardly attended college as he was busy with his family business.”

Hailing from an illustrious family that deals in real estate and stud farms, Sohrab takes keen interest in the family business. Friends, who know Sohrab as ‘Mo’, say that he is totally smitten by Sania. He had pictures of them splashed all over his social networking account. But after reports of the engagement surfaced, Sohrab promptly removed them.

“Mo is a sweet guy, but people think he tries to be oversmart,” says Sohrab’s friend. When asked if the two had been ‘seeing’ each other for a long time, the friend said, “Not really. He’s always been popular with the ladies. But then, all guys his age love female attention.”
Guests have already received their invitations to the engagement on July 10.

Says orthopedic surgeon KJ Reddy, who treated Sania’s knee, “I’ve met Sohrab once, but didn’t really get to know him.” Another guest invited to the do said the guest list would include the entire tennis fraternity and some of her cricketing pals.
