Sania Mirza failed to carry India’s hopes as the eves lost 1-2 to China in the Asia/Oceania Fed Cup Opener.

Mirza, the only Indian to be ranked in the top 200, lost to lower-ranked Jing-Jing Lu in the second singles when a victory could have given India some hope after Australian Open finalist Li Na had pulled out.
