They may be having their own favourite players from the international arena but one factor which encouraged them to take the game of tennis very seriously are the performances of Indian tennis sensation Sania Mirza. Majority of the youngsters taking part in the ongoing ITF Women’s Futures tennis tournament have no hesitation in saying that in tennis, Sania is and “shall always be every Indian girl’s inspiration.”

Indians Sania Mirza and Somdev Devvarman advanced to the last sixteen in the WTA and ATP Tour events in Charleston and Houston in contrasting fashion late on Tuesday.
While Sania worked her way past American Vania King 6-7 (8-10), 6-4, 6-2 in 2 hours and 31 minutes, Somdev made light of American Robert Kendrick’s challenge winning 6-2, 6-1 in 62-minutes.

Sania Mirza overcame a sluggish start to defeat Alison Riske in the first round of the WTA Family Circle Cup in Charleston, USA. Sania, who had entered the main draw through qualifying route, scored a 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 win over the local player to advance to the second round.
Sania will next take on another American Vania King, who ousted 16th seed Russian Vera Dushevina 6-4, 7-6(7) in her opening round of the $ 721,000 hard court event.

Indian qualifier Sania Mirza edged past Vania King in a three-set battle to book a pre-quarterfinal berth in the WTA Family Circle Cup here.
Showing nerves of steel, Sania erased a one-set deficit to score a 6-7(6) 6-4 6-2 win over in-form local player in the second round of the $ 721,000 hard court event.
