The 24-year-old Indian tennis sensation Sania Mirza was uncertain of her form and game during the initial months of 2010 due to couple of injuries that also affected her confidence on the WTA tour. Mirza, however, is now feeling quite satisfied after winning a total of four medals in back-to-back multi discipline sporting competitions this season.

At the beginning of the season, Sania Mirza was unsure where her career was heading due to a recurring wrist injury and loss of form but the Indian tennis star says her confidence has sky-rocketed once again after four medals in back-to-back multi-discipline sporting events.

Sania Mirza is a sports icon in India as she has set a lot of precendents in the world of tennis. Mirza is the first Indian player to break into the top 50 on the WTA Tour but in 2010 she drifted significantly in the rankings and she is currently outside of the top 150.

The mixed-doubles final in Guangzhou, where Sania Mirza claimed silver alongside debutant Vishnu Vardhan, won the 24-year-old her sixth medal in her third Asian Games but it cost her a place in the starting line-up of an ITF tournament (starting on Monday) that may have helped boost her WTA ranking of 165.

India’s Sania Mirza and Vishnu Vardhan had to rest content with a silver medal in the mixed doubles event of tennis competitions following a 6-4, 1-6, 0-1 loss to Chinese Taipei’s Yung Jan Chan and Tsung Hua Yang at the Asian Games here Monday.
